Narrative:

Cruising to ZZZ lost power due to fuel starvation about 20 miles northwest of ZZZ. Made the decision to land on the highway. Landed without incident. Upon inspection it was determine that we lost a gas cap on the right wing and air passing over the wing had siphoned the fuel from the airplane. The right tank gauge read full due to the fuel bladder being sucked up right under the fill hole. We acquired a new fuel cap aviation gas and took off from the highway after the local sheriff shut the road down for us.
