Narrative:
During preflight all notifications of dangerous goods (dg) indicated that we had no dgs. After pushback and taxi-out we were notified that we had to return to gate because dgs were loaded improperly (they had to have 15 bags surrounding them). Surprised that we had any dgs on board; we returned to the ramp. When I queried operations they said they were loaded last minute. Ramp personnel reloaded the aft cargo pit...we taxied out again; got the final numbers; and took off. In my haste to depart; during the climb; I realized that we still had no notification of the dgs. I sent a message to load planning via ACARS. I received a message back from dispatch saying that the dgs do not meet the threshold for notification. The flight continued with no further issue. I am concerned that if there are dgs that do not meet a threshold for notification then why did it have to be loaded in a certain way.
