Narrative:

I was executing a visibility approach to runway 04 at 55J. WX conditions were VMC with winds reported at 340 degrees at 15-20 KTS, gusting. On final approach the aircraft apparently settled rapidly, making contact with the ground short of the runway. Wind shear was reported at craig airport at the time of the incident. Craig is 17 mi to the south. Local residents reported severe wind gusts in the vicinity of 55J. In my opinion, the result of the incident can be attributed to extreme gusty conditions and wind shear.
