Narrative:

Cleared to land runway 8R phx. Landed runway 8R and started roll-out heading to right (south) side of runway 8R to exit for FBO. 'Frantic' controller advised exit runway 8R immediately to left at taxiway and do not acknowledge transmission. Advised controller that a right exit was closer and could I take it, and then immediately advised controller that I was off runway to right. Controller replied get off runway immediately and may have added to your left. Upon exit of runway 8R to the right (south) I cut the corner at D2 because as 'PIC' it was my decision that such an exit was much quicker and safer than cutting left (north) across the runway to exit. My decision was made in order to keep as much of the runway clear as possible turning left across the runway to exit would have taken up much more runway and time. My plane sustained minor damage to the right (passenger side) fiberglass wheel pant due to nicking an unknown object on the edge of the runway. I cannot estimate the time after my departure from runway 8R before the medium large transport Y landed, my best guess would be about 30 seconds. I fault the tower for not properly spacing the traffic and fault the airport for the high traffic density at phx. I commend the tower controller for advising me to exit runway 8R immediately. I cannot forget what happened some 4 hours later in los angeles on this same day! I have been flying approximately 3-4 yrs and am just completing wings phase ii. My pilot training paid off in this case because I was able to sense trouble and react immediately and properly.

Title: SMA TOLD TO EXIT RWY TO HIS LEFT, IMMEDIATELY, TURNED RIGHT INSTEAD AND HIT TXWY LIGHT WITH HIS WHEEL PANT ON RIGHT GEAR.

Narrative: CLRED TO LAND RWY 8R PHX. LANDED RWY 8R AND STARTED ROLL-OUT HDG TO R (S) SIDE OF RWY 8R TO EXIT FOR FBO. 'FRANTIC' CTLR ADVISED EXIT RWY 8R IMMEDIATELY TO L AT TXWY AND DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE XMISSION. ADVISED CTLR THAT A R EXIT WAS CLOSER AND COULD I TAKE IT, AND THEN IMMEDIATELY ADVISED CTLR THAT I WAS OFF RWY TO R. CTLR REPLIED GET OFF RWY IMMEDIATELY AND MAY HAVE ADDED TO YOUR L. UPON EXIT OF RWY 8R TO THE R (S) I CUT THE CORNER AT D2 BECAUSE AS 'PIC' IT WAS MY DECISION THAT SUCH AN EXIT WAS MUCH QUICKER AND SAFER THAN CUTTING L (N) ACROSS THE RWY TO EXIT. MY DECISION WAS MADE IN ORDER TO KEEP AS MUCH OF THE RWY CLR AS POSSIBLE TURNING L ACROSS THE RWY TO EXIT WOULD HAVE TAKEN UP MUCH MORE RWY AND TIME. MY PLANE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE R (PAX SIDE) FIBERGLASS WHEEL PANT DUE TO NICKING AN UNKNOWN OBJECT ON THE EDGE OF THE RWY. I CANNOT ESTIMATE THE TIME AFTER MY DEP FROM RWY 8R BEFORE THE MLG Y LANDED, MY BEST GUESS WOULD BE ABOUT 30 SECS. I FAULT THE TWR FOR NOT PROPERLY SPACING THE TFC AND FAULT THE ARPT FOR THE HIGH TFC DENSITY AT PHX. I COMMEND THE TWR CTLR FOR ADVISING ME TO EXIT RWY 8R IMMEDIATELY. I CANNOT FORGET WHAT HAPPENED SOME 4 HRS LATER IN LOS ANGELES ON THIS SAME DAY! I HAVE BEEN FLYING APPROX 3-4 YRS AND AM JUST COMPLETING WINGS PHASE II. MY PLT TRNING PAID OFF IN THIS CASE BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO SENSE TROUBLE AND REACT IMMEDIATELY AND PROPERLY.
