Narrative:
Cleared for takeoff 23L (ord), maintain runway heading to 5000'. Was following a widebody transport. When approaching 5000' we encountered the widebody transport's wake, causing the stick-shaker to come on (we were at approximately 230 KTS, above clean maneuvering speed). Upon recovery, our altitude was approximately 5300' and we descended back down to 5000'. An aircraft was observed crossing left to right in front of us, approximately 2000' above and 2 1/2 ahead of us. No evasive action taken. Even though we had the proper spacing, we still had encountered the widebody transport's wake, which caused our altitude deviation.

Title: WDB ENCOUNTERS WAKE TURB OF ANOTHER WDB AND HAS STICK-SHAKER ACTIVATE.
Narrative: CLRED FOR TKOF 23L (ORD), MAINTAIN RWY HDG TO 5000'. WAS FOLLOWING A WDB. WHEN APCHING 5000' WE ENCOUNTERED THE WDB'S WAKE, CAUSING THE STICK-SHAKER TO COME ON (WE WERE AT APPROX 230 KTS, ABOVE CLEAN MANEUVERING SPD). UPON RECOVERY, OUR ALT WAS APPROX 5300' AND WE DSNDED BACK DOWN TO 5000'. AN ACFT WAS OBSERVED XING LEFT TO RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, APPROX 2000' ABOVE AND 2 1/2 AHEAD OF US. NO EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN. EVEN THOUGH WE HAD THE PROPER SPACING, WE STILL HAD ENCOUNTERED THE WDB'S WAKE, WHICH CAUSED OUR ALT DEVIATION.
