Narrative:
I was the pilot flying and after liftoff; the control wheel felt heavy. I tried to trim out the forces; but it did not work. I asked the first officer to try his trim switches but they did not work either. I then engaged the auto pilot to see if that would trim the aircraft. That did not work. I then had the first officer run the stabilizer trim failure checklist. The aircraft could be trimmed manually. I then had the first officer fly the airplane. We then [advised ATC]. I notified the dispatcher; flight attendants and passengers. Rest of flight and landing was uneventful.
