Narrative:

We planned for runway 24L. We taxied to the top of the alley and transferred to ground. We were told to taxi for takeoff runway 25R. We had only one engine running as we were expecting a long taxi to runway 24L. We immediately started the procedures for starting engine number 2. One the engine was successfully running. I changed the takeoff runway in the FMS to runway 25R. I then entered the takeoff numbers for runway 25R. We then went through the runway performance change checklist. As we completed the runway performance checklist we went right into the before takeoff checklist. While we were running that checklist we were cleared onto the runway for takeoff. We completed the checklist just in time to taxi onto the runway. We were told 'cleared for immediate takeoff.' when we entered the runway we had the afternoon sun directly in our face. I checked the heading and was handed the controls for an immediate takeoff. I pushed the throttles up to 40% and all looked good. I then pushed the power up and said check thrust. As I was doing this I noticed that the autothrottle was not showing armed on my side. I told the captain and he said that he got it and it was good. As we started rolling down the runway I said that I did not have anything showing in my display. He said continue everything was good on his side. At that point we had reached V1 and rotate. I took off but had no vertical guidance on my side. I climbed out at the normal pitch attitude. I told the captain again that I had no vertical guidance on my side. At that point the captain said my controls. I transferred controls to the captain and then I armed the VNAV; navigation and auto throttles. Everything came back to normal. One everything was back to normal the captain transferred the controls back to me.we had planned on a long taxi to a runway on the other side of the airport. We felt that we were being prudent in not wasting fuel. If we used the original runway we would have had over an 8-10 minute taxi and time to start the engine and run all the checklists. When they gave us the new runway we had to immediately start the 2nd engine and then enter all the new runway takeoff information as we were doing a short taxi to the new runway. We were able to complete all our checklist but were being rushed by the tower. As were turned onto the runway we were hit in the face by the late afternoon sun. We were told cleared for an immediate takeoff not one by twice by tower.
