Narrative:

On departing from uncontrolled airport with 1 passenger (who is also a pilot), called on unicom that I was going to back-taxi down runway. As I turned onto runway after hearing no reply, I found an small aircraft having landed and in process of taking off again. Neither my passenger nor myself had heard any communication, even though he stated, 'I called on final.' I would never had moved onto the runway had I known he was there and I had checked the sky around the approach end of runway visually. Neither aircraft was in any grave danger, but I do feel it is further evidence that people in traffic patterns at uncontrolled airports need to talk more. I am certain that more conversation between aircraft would help between pilots.
