Narrative:
Climbing through FL330 for FL340 in day VMC; crew heard a faint puff and felt a subtle yaw to the left. Crew noticed number 1 engine parameters trending indicating an engine out condition without damage; fire; seizure; fuel starvation; and no suspected FOD (foreign object damage). EICAS (engine indication and crew alerting system) displayed engine 1 out. A zero thrust condition from the number 1 engine was existent.faint puff noise accompanied by a subtle yaw to the left. EICAS and aircraft warning system. Engine 1 out confirmed with accompanied engine parameters.engine 1 out EICAS message displayed with actual number 1 engine out.crew announced and accepted EICAS message engine 1 out. Requested priority handling with stated engine failure to ATC. Crew requested an initial descent to FL320 and ATC provided direct to ZZZ ATC cleared further descent to 10;000 feet. ATC notified crew weather at ZZZ was IFR with 2 miles; low ceilings and light snow. Crew notified ZZZ1 was the closest with better weather and had 7 miles visibility; higher ceilings; and no precipitation. Any closer airports had snow squall lines moving through with low ceilings and low visibility. An inflight turnaround would put the aircraft into weather conditions including icing and deteriorating conditions. Weather to the west was good and improving while weather at nearby airports was snow; low visibility and low ceilings. Weather was moving into airports to the east. Crew decided to divert to ZZZ1 for better and improving weather. We asked to have our descent stopped to avoid icing conditions and remain in VMC. ATC cleared a descent to 17;000 feet. Captain ran QRH while first officer assumed flying duties and communications. [Dispatch] was notified and the flight attendant was briefed. Crew followed QRH procedure for APU assisted start but no signs of starting. A successful single engine landing was made at ZZZ1 on runway xxl. Aircraft came to a stop. Previously requested emergency services inspected the aircraft and communicated over radio aircraft was ok. Crew requested an emergency vehicle follow aircraft to the gate.the crew practiced good CRM (crew resource management). We brought ATC and dispatch and the flight attendant into the situation which helped expediting events in a time sensitive situation. The crew made decisions together. The crew used standard operating procedures. Each pilot performed their duties.
