Narrative:
Altimeter setting for takeoff from ny at 29.26. Aircraft equipped with new TCAS ii equipment. First flight either pilot had used this equipment. Aircraft vectored in trail and 2000' above another aircraft climbing in front of our aircraft. Attention directed at TCAS ii and altimeters not reset at 17000'. Aircraft leveled off at 35500' and was called by controller. Altimeters reset to 29.92 and aircraft descended to FL350. No conflict was observed.
