Narrative:
Captain of aircraft X called reported of a NWS (nosewheel steering) inoperative caution message after pushback. I walked the captain through the reset procedures in the fim. The reset procedure did not work. I had the captain power the aircraft down; wait five minutes then power the aircraft back up and call me back when he did. The captain never called back. When he landed; captain wrote the discrepancy: 'steering inoperative caution complied with mx procedure; issue resolved.'I think there was miscommunication of procedures and who is responsible to write up the discrepancy or when.I will advise the pilots to have a discrepancy entered before performing any type of reset procedure.
