Narrative:
I was holding short for the runway xx on the taxiway. There was a plane about to land. As that plane passed me; the tower told me to 'take position and hold.' I repeated the instructions and proceeded into position. While in position and holding; a third plane; came overhead to land. I repeated my instructions to verify what I was doing and the tower gave me permission to takeoff; which I did; staying in the pattern for one more full stop landing. I was listening to the tower and heard nothing of a third plane. Actually; the tower operator sounded young and inexperienced.
