Narrative:

I am not qualified in tail-dragger aircraft. I was receiving instruction for chkout in a tail-dragger by owner. On the first landing, the aircraft jerked to the right, then veered suddenly to the left. The right main landing gear collapsed and aircraft came to rest on the runway on top of the gear. An examination showed the right bell crank had not broken at the tail wheel. I believe this caused the aircraft to veer suddenly to the left exerting side load on the right landing gear, causing its collapse.

Title: STUDENT PLT RECEIVING INSTRUCTION IN A TAIL DRAGGER HAD GEAR COLLAPSE ON LNDG ROLLOUT.

Narrative: I AM NOT QUALIFIED IN TAIL-DRAGGER ACFT. I WAS RECEIVING INSTRUCTION FOR CHKOUT IN A TAIL-DRAGGER BY OWNER. ON THE FIRST LNDG, THE ACFT JERKED TO THE RIGHT, THEN VEERED SUDDENLY TO THE LEFT. THE RIGHT MAIN LNDG GEAR COLLAPSED AND ACFT CAME TO REST ON THE RWY ON TOP OF THE GEAR. AN EXAMINATION SHOWED THE RIGHT BELL CRANK HAD NOT BROKEN AT THE TAIL WHEEL. I BELIEVE THIS CAUSED THE ACFT TO VEER SUDDENLY TO THE LEFT EXERTING SIDE LOAD ON THE RIGHT LNDG GEAR, CAUSING ITS COLLAPSE.
