Narrative:
#2 nacelle/pylon overheat light and aft smoke detection alarms came on. With #2 in idle smoke detection alarms sounded steady and overheat light came back on. On downwind at approximately 7500' MSL we shut down #2, requested 'priority' handling and equipment. Landed on runway 27R. Smooth landing. Systems ok on ground. Released emergency vehs. Excellent cooperation by crew, aircraft and tower and emergency vehs.
