Narrative:

In cruise; at FL390 got a fuel flow EICAS message along with a thrust asymmetry computer EICAS. Checklist directed an engine shut down due to excessive fuel flow to right engine. Coordinated with dispatch and maintenance control and with first officer concurrence; decided to divert ZZZ. Started descent; performed engine shutdown and notified ATC. Performed a single engine approach to xxr in ZZZ without incident. Fire and rescue inspected airplane when clear of the runway and found no issues. Normal taxi in and shutdown.
