Narrative:
On landing roll nose gear folded with first application of brakes. Cause unknown at this time. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter stated on callback that in repairing the aircraft it was not established why the locking mechanism failed to keep the nose gear in over center position. Considerable damage to the aircraft. Reporter is positive that he had checked gear down--lights and handle in proper position. Observers reported gear appeared down for landing. Reporter had observed the testing of the gear during relicensing.
