Narrative:
On the approach into ase we were cleared for a visual approach with maneuvering to the west approved roughly over the last mountain on the localizer course. In order [to] ensure that we could get on the correct glideslope and stabilized far enough out the pilot flying opted to maneuver in the remaining valley area to the west of localizer course. The GPWS 'caution terrain' sounded twice while doing this. Aspen is a steep and difficult approach.
