Narrative:
On IFR training flight at level off at 6000' engine began to run rough. We decided to return to departure airport. Called bradley departure 3 times, didn't answer until third time. We had already turned back 180 degree and lost 300' due to reduction of engine power.

Narrative: ON IFR TRNING FLT AT LEVEL OFF AT 6000' ENG BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH. WE DECIDED TO RETURN TO DEP ARPT. CALLED BRADLEY DEP 3 TIMES, DIDN'T ANSWER UNTIL THIRD TIME. WE HAD ALREADY TURNED BACK 180 DEG AND LOST 300' DUE TO REDUCTION OF ENG PWR.
