Narrative:
Taxied out with #1 engine and gen on (#2 engine shut down, APU off). Awaited takeoff clearance (aircraft heading 180 degrees). Started #2 engine. Cleared to takeoff position (runway heading 090 degrees). While turning onto runway, placed #2 gen on. Cleared for takeoff. Made visibility takeoff. At about 300' started right turn to 240 degrees, transitioned to instruments. Noticed HSI and compass flags, instrument frozen. Compass frozen on 130 degree heading. Flew on standby attitude indicator until able to xfer HSI and compass from first officer side. Returned to airport. Normal approach and landing made. At gate realigned IRS units. Had maintenance check security of iks equipment and electrical connections. Units realigned properly and no further problems.
