Narrative:

After holding on the STAR route for 1 hour, we were racing a trw to the airport. C/left/right (cockpit/leadership/resource) of crew coordination was working well. As we passed the OM, the tower reported wind of 190/16g29 and 'heavy' rain. All 3 crew members agreed that this was time to retreat. The PF made an immediate right turn prior to the PNF getting missed approach instructions. As a result, we turned into traffic on ILS 13R. We were able to eventually get a visibility on the traffic. ATC tried to give us a left turn. However, we were turning at maximum bank and were committed. ATC then gave an 'immediate climb' clearance to 4000'. We did this and proceeded to an alternate. To have avoided this problem, I think as a crew we could have anticipated this situation in advance and coordinated with ATC for this eventuality. To justify my not having foreseen this problem is the fact that I did not consider our position from the trw to be a problem, but only if we attempted to land. I felt that we could have continued on our course long enough to coordinate with ATC. Apparently the PF did not. I was caught by surprise with the rapidity of his turn.

Title: FLT CREW OF LGT ON SHORT FINAL DECIDED TO ABORT THE APCH AND MADE AN ABRUPT RIGHT TURN BEFORE ADVISING TWR CTLR. TURN WAS TOWARD TRAFFIC ON PARALLEL RWY APCH.

Narrative: AFTER HOLDING ON THE STAR RTE FOR 1 HR, WE WERE RACING A TRW TO THE ARPT. C/L/R (COCKPIT/LEADERSHIP/RESOURCE) OF CREW COORD WAS WORKING WELL. AS WE PASSED THE OM, THE TWR RPTED WIND OF 190/16G29 AND 'HEAVY' RAIN. ALL 3 CREW MEMBERS AGREED THAT THIS WAS TIME TO RETREAT. THE PF MADE AN IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN PRIOR TO THE PNF GETTING MISSED APCH INSTRUCTIONS. AS A RESULT, WE TURNED INTO TFC ON ILS 13R. WE WERE ABLE TO EVENTUALLY GET A VIS ON THE TFC. ATC TRIED TO GIVE US A LEFT TURN. HOWEVER, WE WERE TURNING AT MAX BANK AND WERE COMMITTED. ATC THEN GAVE AN 'IMMEDIATE CLB' CLRNC TO 4000'. WE DID THIS AND PROCEEDED TO AN ALTERNATE. TO HAVE AVOIDED THIS PROB, I THINK AS A CREW WE COULD HAVE ANTICIPATED THIS SITUATION IN ADVANCE AND COORDINATED WITH ATC FOR THIS EVENTUALITY. TO JUSTIFY MY NOT HAVING FORESEEN THIS PROB IS THE FACT THAT I DID NOT CONSIDER OUR POS FROM THE TRW TO BE A PROB, BUT ONLY IF WE ATTEMPTED TO LAND. I FELT THAT WE COULD HAVE CONTINUED ON OUR COURSE LONG ENOUGH TO COORDINATE WITH ATC. APPARENTLY THE PF DID NOT. I WAS CAUGHT BY SURPRISE WITH THE RAPIDITY OF HIS TURN.
