Narrative:
Returning from 26N to N05. Was flying a heading of 030 degrees when encountered IMC WX ahead. This appeared to be thunderstorms of which there was a 20% chance of in forecast. I was thus forced to proceed northwest (330 degrees) to avoid WX, whereupon I penetrated the phl mode C ring. The aircraft is not equipped with either radios (communication/navigation), transponder or altitude encoder. I thus lost all known ground references until I sighted the delaware river and could thus resume pilotage. During this disoriented period, I may have also passed close to a controled airfield. The aircraft did not have radios to enable communications with any ATC or FSS. This aircraft should not be flown on x-county trips west/O proper avionics, particularly at times of marginal VFR.

Title: GA SMA UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE AND VIOLATION OF FEDERAL AVIATION REGS ENTERING A TCA MODE C RIGHT WITHOUT RADIO OF ANY TYPE.
Narrative: RETURNING FROM 26N TO N05. WAS FLYING A HDG OF 030 DEGS WHEN ENCOUNTERED IMC WX AHEAD. THIS APPEARED TO BE TSTMS OF WHICH THERE WAS A 20% CHANCE OF IN FORECAST. I WAS THUS FORCED TO PROCEED NW (330 DEGS) TO AVOID WX, WHEREUPON I PENETRATED THE PHL MODE C RING. THE ACFT IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH EITHER RADIOS (COM/NAV), XPONDER OR ALT ENCODER. I THUS LOST ALL KNOWN GND REFS UNTIL I SIGHTED THE DELAWARE RIVER AND COULD THUS RESUME PILOTAGE. DURING THIS DISORIENTED PERIOD, I MAY HAVE ALSO PASSED CLOSE TO A CTLED AIRFIELD. THE ACFT DID NOT HAVE RADIOS TO ENABLE COMS WITH ANY ATC OR FSS. THIS ACFT SHOULD NOT BE FLOWN ON X-COUNTY TRIPS W/O PROPER AVIONICS, PARTICULARLY AT TIMES OF MARGINAL VFR.
