Narrative:

Descent through and around numerous thunderstorms, rapid drop off by approach control, caused confusion in identing the assigned runway. We were assigned runway 18R, lined up by approach control on 17R and localizer to 18R was giving us full scale deflection to the left. We were given 2 warnings by tower that we were improperly aligned, but felt in fact we were aligned with runway 18R. At 600' AGL we realized we were in fact aligned with runway 17R. We quickly asked for clearance to land on 17R with permission given, landing uneventful. Primary cause of problem: disorientation by both pilots caused by numerous factors (WX and ATC being primary). Luckily, we were not a conflict to any other arriving flight.

Narrative: DSNT THROUGH AND AROUND NUMEROUS TSTMS, RAPID DROP OFF BY APCH CTL, CAUSED CONFUSION IN IDENTING THE ASSIGNED RWY. WE WERE ASSIGNED RWY 18R, LINED UP BY APCH CTL ON 17R AND LOC TO 18R WAS GIVING US FULL SCALE DEFLECTION TO THE LEFT. WE WERE GIVEN 2 WARNINGS BY TWR THAT WE WERE IMPROPERLY ALIGNED, BUT FELT IN FACT WE WERE ALIGNED WITH RWY 18R. AT 600' AGL WE REALIZED WE WERE IN FACT ALIGNED WITH RWY 17R. WE QUICKLY ASKED FOR CLRNC TO LAND ON 17R WITH PERMISSION GIVEN, LNDG UNEVENTFUL. PRIMARY CAUSE OF PROB: DISORIENTATION BY BOTH PLTS CAUSED BY NUMEROUS FACTORS (WX AND ATC BEING PRIMARY). LUCKILY, WE WERE NOT A CONFLICT TO ANY OTHER ARRIVING FLT.
