Narrative:
A TCAS false target appeared at 10 O'clock (westbound on J80) and 20 mi with no altitude shown. ATC, denver center, had no such traffic when asked about it. No aural or visibility TA or RA and target disappeared suddenly. His was an obvious false target display caused by unresolved bugs in the TCAS software.

Title: CAPT OF ACR WDB CLAIMS HE GOT A FALSE TCASII TARGET WHILE IN CRUISE AT FL350.
Narrative: A TCAS FALSE TARGET APPEARED AT 10 O'CLOCK (WBND ON J80) AND 20 MI WITH NO ALT SHOWN. ATC, DENVER CTR, HAD NO SUCH TFC WHEN ASKED ABOUT IT. NO AURAL OR VIS TA OR RA AND TARGET DISAPPEARED SUDDENLY. HIS WAS AN OBVIOUS FALSE TARGET DISPLAY CAUSED BY UNRESOLVED BUGS IN THE TCAS SOFTWARE.
