Narrative:
Captain at controls at approximately XX40 local approaching phl while talking to ZNY on 133.67. We were level at 11000'. Center told us of traffic 500' below us at 1-2 O'clock, 5 mi. TCAS picked it up and verified. We told him it did. We did not have the traffic in sight. The controller asked us if we would like a heading ot avoid traffic. As we started to confirm we would like a vector, TCAS said, 'traffic, climb, climb.' we alerted controller we were turning and climbing. We climbed 300' to avoid conflict.
