Narrative:
At ont, ca approaching petis at 4300 ft cleared to 4200 ft controller notified us of widebody transport traffic at 10 O'clock position crossing underneath for norton AFB. At petis I saw the widebody transport at about 2 mi at 10 O'clock. His deck angle seemed very high as if climbing so I took the aircraft and turned left and gained 300 ft then rolled back to the right. The first officer saw the widebody transport at what appeared to be 500 ft away. Continued the approach, landed and called approach supervisor. He said the widebody transport was holding 3200 ft.
