Narrative:
Slats failed to extend on base leg to runway 06L at gum. Missed approach shot and situation corrected in the hold over the bay at 2500' and 10 mins later uneventful landing. I wrote up problem in maintenance logbook but failed to file captain's report as required by our operations manual. Too late now. Long day early am arrival.
