Narrative:
7/mon/91 flight clt-ahn am:30-im:30 on arrival at ahn's area cancelled IFR. Entered overhead for left traffic runway 27. No traffic except for high wing behind us. Proceeded to land on runway 27 and was on if not above VASI. Landed well down runway, and proceeded to ramp. Upon reaching ahn's operations, FBO calls on phone and says that a person working construction (lengthening runway 27 at approach end) at approach end of runway 27 had called and said we were very low and that if there had been a crane on the glide path we would've hit it. NOTAMS indicated a 700' displaced threshold which we adhered to. We were very aware of the construction crew. At no time did we endanger our lives, the passengers or the workmen. On the NOTAM there was nothing said of cranes in vicinity, just a displaced threshold. Suggest if equipment is in vicinity (ie cranes, etc) that this information be put in NOTAMS. Supplemental information from acn 182537. As we turned final the captain reminded me F the 700' displacement from the threshold that was listed in the NOTAMS. I followed the VASI and then landed on the 1000' markers.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTT LANDS CLOSE TO DISPLACED THRESHOLD AND GND WORKMAN COMPLAINS ABOUT LOW APCH.
Narrative: 7/MON/91 FLT CLT-AHN AM:30-IM:30 ON ARR AT AHN'S AREA CANCELLED IFR. ENTERED OVERHEAD FOR L TFC RWY 27. NO TFC EXCEPT FOR HIGH WING BEHIND US. PROCEEDED TO LAND ON RWY 27 AND WAS ON IF NOT ABOVE VASI. LANDED WELL DOWN RWY, AND PROCEEDED TO RAMP. UPON REACHING AHN'S OPS, FBO CALLS ON PHONE AND SAYS THAT A PERSON WORKING CONSTRUCTION (LENGTHENING RWY 27 AT APCH END) AT APCH END OF RWY 27 HAD CALLED AND SAID WE WERE VERY LOW AND THAT IF THERE HAD BEEN A CRANE ON THE GLIDE PATH WE WOULD'VE HIT IT. NOTAMS INDICATED A 700' DISPLACED THRESHOLD WHICH WE ADHERED TO. WE WERE VERY AWARE OF THE CONSTRUCTION CREW. AT NO TIME DID WE ENDANGER OUR LIVES, THE PAXS OR THE WORKMEN. ON THE NOTAM THERE WAS NOTHING SAID OF CRANES IN VICINITY, JUST A DISPLACED THRESHOLD. SUGGEST IF EQUIPMENT IS IN VICINITY (IE CRANES, ETC) THAT THIS INFO BE PUT IN NOTAMS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 182537. AS WE TURNED FINAL THE CAPT REMINDED ME F THE 700' DISPLACEMENT FROM THE THRESHOLD THAT WAS LISTED IN THE NOTAMS. I FOLLOWED THE VASI AND THEN LANDED ON THE 1000' MARKERS.
