Narrative:
After pushing back from gate (reference: airport diagram, chart 10-9 of pdx) we were cleared to taxi to runway 28L. I proceeded to taxi around the terminal on the ramp toward S-5; seeing taxiway tango completely empty of any aircraft, parked or otherwise, I proceeded to use taxiway tango to reach taxiway B. After getting on to B, ground control advised us that tango was closed to aircraft with a wing span greater than 108 ft. Apparently I misread the chart believing that restriction was only an advisory when aircraft were parked on that part of the ramp. I have two suggestions concerning this incident. First, a small sign should be in view at the approachs to tango to remind pilots of the restrictions (if one is there I did not see it). Second, if the restriction made reference to a type of aircraft (ie, tango closed to aircraft or larger) pilots could relate to it better. Supplemental information from acn 183283. I did not notice that this was also highlighted on the airport diagram. As we proceeded around the terminal the captain taxied onto taxiway tango. At this time I was unaware that we were on taxiway tango.

Title: ACR LGT USES TAXIWAY THAT WAS CLOSED TO TYPE OF ACFT.
Narrative: AFTER PUSHING BACK FROM GATE (REF: ARPT DIAGRAM, CHART 10-9 OF PDX) WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 28L. I PROCEEDED TO TAXI AROUND THE TERMINAL ON THE RAMP TOWARD S-5; SEEING TAXIWAY TANGO COMPLETELY EMPTY OF ANY ACFT, PARKED OR OTHERWISE, I PROCEEDED TO USE TAXIWAY TANGO TO REACH TAXIWAY B. AFTER GETTING ON TO B, GND CTL ADVISED US THAT TANGO WAS CLOSED TO ACFT WITH A WING SPAN GREATER THAN 108 FT. APPARENTLY I MISREAD THE CHART BELIEVING THAT RESTRICTION WAS ONLY AN ADVISORY WHEN ACFT WERE PARKED ON THAT PART OF THE RAMP. I HAVE TWO SUGGESTIONS CONCERNING THIS INCIDENT. FIRST, A SMALL SIGN SHOULD BE IN VIEW AT THE APCHS TO TANGO TO REMIND PLTS OF THE RESTRICTIONS (IF ONE IS THERE I DID NOT SEE IT). SECOND, IF THE RESTRICTION MADE REFERENCE TO A TYPE OF ACFT (IE, TANGO CLOSED TO ACFT OR LARGER) PLTS COULD RELATE TO IT BETTER. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 183283. I DID NOT NOTICE THAT THIS WAS ALSO HIGHLIGHTED ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM. AS WE PROCEEDED AROUND THE TERMINAL THE CAPT TAXIED ONTO TAXIWAY TANGO. AT THIS TIME I WAS UNAWARE THAT WE WERE ON TAXIWAY TANGO.
