Narrative:

We were inbound to bna from pns. The first officer was the PF. I had approximately 25 hours in the light transport and the first officer had about 50 hours in the light transport when this occurrence happened. Approach had given us a turn to 020 degrees for a downwind leg. We had completed our approach briefing and had our flight instruments set up for 20L ILS approach. On the downwind leg, the left generator tripped off line. This is a cautionary occurrence. I completed the abnormal checklist and the generator was brought back on line. Approximately 15 seconds later the left generator tripped off line again. I decided to leave the generator off line and deal with it after we landed. Approach gave us a base turn to maintain 2000 ft MSL until established on the 20L localizer. Cleared for 20L approach, maintain 170 KTS until skaggs. I read back the clearance. We were approximately 15 mi from the airport. A warning light came on, our left engine oil pressure was low. I performed the emergency procedures and when I completed it, I noticed that the first officer had lined up on 20R. He completely disregarded the EFIS and made the approach completely visual. His excuse was that the FAF for 20L is judd not skaggs and this confused him. In fact, the controller did make a mistake on this. I called the tower to confirm which runway we were cleared for and he said cleared for runway 20L but if you need runway 20R you can have it. I told him we would take runway 20L. We landed with no further occurrences.

Title: COMMUTER HAS ABNORMAL PROX WHEN GENERATOR LIGHT COMES ON. LINES UP WITH WRONG RWY. CTLR ISSUED WRONG FIX.

Narrative: WE WERE INBOUND TO BNA FROM PNS. THE FO WAS THE PF. I HAD APPROX 25 HRS IN THE LTT AND THE FO HAD ABOUT 50 HRS IN THE LTT WHEN THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENED. APCH HAD GIVEN US A TURN TO 020 DEGS FOR A DOWNWIND LEG. WE HAD COMPLETED OUR APCH BRIEFING AND HAD OUR FLT INSTS SET UP FOR 20L ILS APCH. ON THE DOWNWIND LEG, THE L GENERATOR TRIPPED OFF LINE. THIS IS A CAUTIONARY OCCURRENCE. I COMPLETED THE ABNORMAL CHKLIST AND THE GENERATOR WAS BROUGHT BACK ON LINE. APPROX 15 SECONDS LATER THE L GENERATOR TRIPPED OFF LINE AGAIN. I DECIDED TO LEAVE THE GENERATOR OFF LINE AND DEAL WITH IT AFTER WE LANDED. APCH GAVE US A BASE TURN TO MAINTAIN 2000 FT MSL UNTIL ESTABLISHED ON THE 20L LOC. CLRED FOR 20L APCH, MAINTAIN 170 KTS UNTIL SKAGGS. I READ BACK THE CLRNC. WE WERE APPROX 15 MI FROM THE ARPT. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, OUR L ENG OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW. I PERFORMED THE EMER PROCS AND WHEN I COMPLETED IT, I NOTICED THAT THE FO HAD LINED UP ON 20R. HE COMPLETELY DISREGARDED THE EFIS AND MADE THE APCH COMPLETELY VISUAL. HIS EXCUSE WAS THAT THE FAF FOR 20L IS JUDD NOT SKAGGS AND THIS CONFUSED HIM. IN FACT, THE CTLR DID MAKE A MISTAKE ON THIS. I CALLED THE TWR TO CONFIRM WHICH RWY WE WERE CLRED FOR AND HE SAID CLRED FOR RWY 20L BUT IF YOU NEED RWY 20R YOU CAN HAVE IT. I TOLD HIM WE WOULD TAKE RWY 20L. WE LANDED WITH NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES.
