Narrative:
I checked the WX forecast for a planned trip at which time I was told that the flight could at times have some areas of marginal VFR. Upon arriving at tompkins co, I tried both 119.6 and 122.95 requesting landing clearance, I was also inquiring if a special VFR clearance was necessary. I did not receive a response on either channel. After being in the pattern and checking for any possible other traffic, I landed. After clearing the active runway I then started receiving on 119.6 which is tower and they told me to contact them after I was in the FBO which I did. I explained to the tower that I did not receive any transmissions from either channel they told me that the tower chief would call me on monday if there was any further questions or problems. The next day before departure a loose wire was found in radio jack after tightening no further problems with radio have occurred. At no time did I have any conflict with any other air traffic.
