Narrative:
Flight of 2 aircraft left cody, wy, on pleasure flight to chico springs resort, mt. Had heard of possible restr area because of fire in drainage to north. So, as we departed, flew south about 7 NM and then due east toward red lodge, mt. Observed small aircraft rolling in on us from 6 position and warned my wingman. We attempted contact on 122.75 to no avail. Small aircraft came within 2 wing widths of our ships. On arrival at cod, heard that restr area had been extended to 30 NM from fire (which was out). Previous experience with idaho fires was 5-10 NM area.
