Narrative:
On quiet bridge visual approach, runway 28R, we were advised that an light transport Y jet would be on a parallel visual approach to runway 28L. At approximately 6 mi, 2000 ft our TCAS alerted traffic at 5 O'clock 1-2 mi. I saw it visually as it passed from right to left through our altitude about 1/4 - 1/2 mi ahead (according to TCAS plot and visual estimate) and landed on 28L. We landed without further incident on 28R and notified ATC. ATC alerted us of conflict as light transport Y was passing in front of us, too late to be of much value. Supplemental information from acn 186224. Light transport Y cleared for visual approach to 28L, following widebody transport X for 28R, traffic widebody transport X in sight at all times, ATC notifies widebody transport X of overtaking lt Y, widebody transport X acknowledges, light transport Y continues. Approach to runway 28L and crosses over widebody transport X flight path while descending to 28L, light transport Y passing over and descending, startles crew of widebody transport X. ATC monitors the approach of both aircraft, widebody transport X calls near miss. At no time did light transport Y lose visual with widebody transport X. ATC called after incident indicates miss of 1/2 mi.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTT CROSSES OVER WDB FLT PATH WHILE ON FINAL DURING PARALLEL VISUAL APCHS. TFC HAD BEEN GIVEN TO BOTH ACFT.
Narrative: ON QUIET BRIDGE VISUAL APCH, RWY 28R, WE WERE ADVISED THAT AN LTT Y JET WOULD BE ON A PARALLEL VISUAL APCH TO RWY 28L. AT APPROX 6 MI, 2000 FT OUR TCAS ALERTED TFC AT 5 O'CLOCK 1-2 MI. I SAW IT VISUALLY AS IT PASSED FROM R TO L THROUGH OUR ALT ABOUT 1/4 - 1/2 MI AHEAD (ACCORDING TO TCAS PLOT AND VISUAL ESTIMATE) AND LANDED ON 28L. WE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT ON 28R AND NOTIFIED ATC. ATC ALERTED US OF CONFLICT AS LTT Y WAS PASSING IN FRONT OF US, TOO LATE TO BE OF MUCH VALUE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 186224. LTT Y CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH TO 28L, FOLLOWING WDB X FOR 28R, TFC WDB X IN SIGHT AT ALL TIMES, ATC NOTIFIES WDB X OF OVERTAKING LT Y, WDB X ACKNOWLEDGES, LTT Y CONTINUES. APCH TO RWY 28L AND CROSSES OVER WDB X FLT PATH WHILE DSNDING TO 28L, LTT Y PASSING OVER AND DSNDING, STARTLES CREW OF WDB X. ATC MONITORS THE APCH OF BOTH ACFT, WDB X CALLS NEAR MISS. AT NO TIME DID LTT Y LOSE VISUAL WITH WDB X. ATC CALLED AFTER INCIDENT INDICATES MISS OF 1/2 MI.
