Narrative:
Departed hobbs, NM, with 400 pounds fuel indicated. Quick turned clovis, NM, and had 325 pounds indicated on takeoff. Left tank went dry 20 mi east of kabq. Had 125 pounds indicated right tank. Engine failed 3 mi southeast kabq 1.8 hours flight time. Made same trip with same aircraft many times and had normal fuel on shutdown 150 pounds to 200 pounds. Aircraft burns 100 pounds per hour. To prevent possible recurrences suggest stick to determine actual fuel quantity stick to be marked at half full (min quantity) and 3/4 full.
