Narrative:

On bur localizer, heard loud 'bang' and smelled electrical combustion. Advised bur approach, cleared visual approach vny, cleared to land any runway, called vny tower then shut down all electrical system, landed with no flaps, met off runway by fire truck and airport police. No fire, no damage apparent, no injuries. Requested to report to vny tower and bur TRACON. ATC and fire/police department very helpful and courteous. Airplane fully legal and maintained. Cause to be determined. This is an example of the ATC system working at its best. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter has not been able to determine the exact cause of the problem. Suspects the club checked the aircraft and could not find any obvious faults and let it drop.

THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE ATC SYS WORKING AT ITS BEST. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. SUSPECTS THE CLUB CHKED THE ACFT AND COULD NOT FIND ANY OBVIOUS FAULTS AND LET IT DROP.
