Narrative:
We were assigned 7000 ft. Approach control issued traffic at '6400 ft below'. Our TCASII gave us a TA. Later, TCASII gave us an RA command to climb. We climbed to approximately 7800 ft, TCASII commanded 'monitor vertical speed'. We leveled off. We advised approach control of our altitude deviation. We returned to 7000 ft. No further incident.
