Narrative:
While taking off on runway 18L at carl T. Jones airport at huntsville, alabama, several maps fell into the floor vent and were blown up into my face. The aircraft had not been trimmed up and the gear had been retracted. Out of reflex I attempted to push the maps out of the way resulting in the airplane settling back onto the runway. I completed the takeoff and reported to the tower. I then landed and found that the tips of the propeller had been damaged and that the undercarriage had sustained minor damage. The cause of this problem was that I failed to first 'fly the airplane' then get the maps out of my face. Additionally I retracted the gear before the end of the runway. Had the gear been down and locked the incident would not have occurred. My practice in the future will be to leave the gear down until I am out of runway.
