Narrative:

We were #1 for takeoff holding short of 22R. An aircraft was holding on the runway. Bos tower said wind 330/19 gust 29 can you takeoff. Aircraft on runway said affirmative. Received a takeoff clearance and departed. Tower then asked us if we could takeoff. We said affirmative and they cleared us into position on 22R. Our crosswind under these circumstances was about 28 KTS and our manual limit is 25 KTS. I assumed that since wind varies considerably and was only 3 KTS over our limit that before I make a decision to taxi around the airport for another runway and disrupt the airport flow, lose my slot etc, I would wait for takeoff clearance and get wind at that moment then make my decision. Tower cleared us for takeoff without giving any additional wind information. Takeoff was normal, but the possibility exists that we exceeded our crosswind limit. Tower used improper procedure by not issuing wind with takeoff clearance.

Title: FLC OF MLG TKOF WITH WINDS THAT EXCEEDED THEIR XWIND LIMITS.

Narrative: WE WERE #1 FOR TKOF HOLDING SHORT OF 22R. AN ACFT WAS HOLDING ON THE RWY. BOS TWR SAID WIND 330/19 GUST 29 CAN YOU TKOF. ACFT ON RWY SAID AFFIRMATIVE. RECEIVED A TKOF CLRNC AND DEPARTED. TWR THEN ASKED US IF WE COULD TKOF. WE SAID AFFIRMATIVE AND THEY CLRED US INTO POS ON 22R. OUR XWIND UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES WAS ABOUT 28 KTS AND OUR MANUAL LIMIT IS 25 KTS. I ASSUMED THAT SINCE WIND VARIES CONSIDERABLY AND WAS ONLY 3 KTS OVER OUR LIMIT THAT BEFORE I MAKE A DECISION TO TAXI AROUND THE ARPT FOR ANOTHER RWY AND DISRUPT THE ARPT FLOW, LOSE MY SLOT ETC, I WOULD WAIT FOR TKOF CLRNC AND GET WIND AT THAT MOMENT THEN MAKE MY DECISION. TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF WITHOUT GIVING ANY ADDITIONAL WIND INFO. TKOF WAS NORMAL, BUT THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT WE EXCEEDED OUR XWIND LIMIT. TWR USED IMPROPER PROC BY NOT ISSUING WIND WITH TKOF CLRNC.
