Narrative:
Cleared to FL240, passing through FL190, the cabin pressure alarm went off (cabin was at 10000 ft). I leveled out climb (reduced it to 300 FPM for about 45 seconds) while we determined what the problem was. In my surprise I did not tell the first officer to advise center that we were temporarily leveling off/reducing rate of climb. Center advised us of traffic (which we saw at 5 mi or more) at 19000 ft.

Narrative: CLRED TO FL240, PASSING THROUGH FL190, THE CABIN PRESSURE ALARM WENT OFF (CABIN WAS AT 10000 FT). I LEVELED OUT CLB (REDUCED IT TO 300 FPM FOR ABOUT 45 SECONDS) WHILE WE DETERMINED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. IN MY SURPRISE I DID NOT TELL THE FO TO ADVISE CENTER THAT WE WERE TEMPORARILY LEVELING OFF/REDUCING RATE OF CLB. CENTER ADVISED US OF TFC (WHICH WE SAW AT 5 MI OR MORE) AT 19000 FT.
