Narrative:
Flight crew was in the process of being intensely searched (empty pockets, hand screening,...) at security screening point. During this process, the guards were ignoring the passengers walking through the metal detector. 1 passenger put her can of mace in the basket, walked through the metal detector, and picked up the can and proceeded to airplane. Guards confiscated the mace only after being alerted by the first officer. No weapons were found on the crew.

Title: ACR FO SAYS AN ARPT SECURITY GUARD MISSED SEEING A CAN OF MACE BEING CARRIED BY A PASSENGER BECAUSE HE WAS CONCENTRATING ON A FLC SEARCH AT THE GATE.
Narrative: FLC WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING INTENSELY SEARCHED (EMPTY POCKETS, HAND SCREENING,...) AT SECURITY SCREENING POINT. DURING THIS PROCESS, THE GUARDS WERE IGNORING THE PASSENGERS WALKING THROUGH THE METAL DETECTOR. 1 PASSENGER PUT HER CAN OF MACE IN THE BASKET, WALKED THROUGH THE METAL DETECTOR, AND PICKED UP THE CAN AND PROCEEDED TO AIRPLANE. GUARDS CONFISCATED THE MACE ONLY AFTER BEING ALERTED BY THE FO. NO WEAPONS WERE FOUND ON THE CREW.
