Narrative:

I was at 6000 ft on an IFR flight plan from hya to jyo about 5-7 mi southwest of grotton airport. The engine had a 'thud' and I lost power. I told ATC and declared an emergency. They vectored me to grotton airport where I circled to land. I tried the power several times and checked the ignition and fuel but could not get any power. I landed at an angle to the runway and hit on the pilot's side main gear. The pilot's side wing tip touched the ground. I rolled out and as I left the runway I hit a taxi light. No one was hurt. My wife was with me. The airplane is an small aircraft.
