Narrative:

About 20 NM southwest jfk at FL270, cleared to cross 10 southwest deer park at FL200. Aircraft was using autoplt, and also using 'perf' (performance management system). Due to the fact that perf reacts so slowly, I wasted valuable time (using it to descend) in a tight descent. By the time I saw we were going to be late (high) at the crossing, it was impossible to make it, even with full speed brakes (out of perf mode now) throttles idle and 320 KIAS. We crossed 10 NM southwest deer park at FL209. I will not use perf is descent in the future.

Title: UNABLE TO MAKE XING RESTRICTION ACCOUNT PERFORMANCE MODE OF AUTOPLT SLOW.

Narrative: ABOUT 20 NM SW JFK AT FL270, CLRED TO CROSS 10 SW DEER PARK AT FL200. ACFT WAS USING AUTOPLT, AND ALSO USING 'PERF' (PERFORMANCE MGMNT SYS). DUE TO THE FACT THAT PERF REACTS SO SLOWLY, I WASTED VALUABLE TIME (USING IT TO DSND) IN A TIGHT DSCNT. BY THE TIME I SAW WE WERE GOING TO BE LATE (HIGH) AT THE XING, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE IT, EVEN WITH FULL SPD BRAKES (OUT OF PERF MODE NOW) THROTTLES IDLE AND 320 KIAS. WE CROSSED 10 NM SW DEER PARK AT FL209. I WILL NOT USE PERF IS DSCNT IN THE FUTURE.
