Narrative:
I attempted to contact the ixd tower on 118.9. I had copied this frequency from the airport facility directory. I am now aware that 118.9 is the frequency for kansas city approach/departure control, not ixd tower, which is 118.3. I received no response on this frequency. Under the assumption that ixd tower was now closed, I began making common TA frequency (CTAF) position reports on 118.9. I entered a left downwind for runway 22 which was illuminated and made a normal landing giving position reports on downwind, base, and final approach. As I taxied off of the runway the taxi lights went off. From my position on the taxiway I could then see the headlights of an approaching vehicle on the runway. I waited for the vehicle which pulled up next to my aircraft. As the driver exited her vehicle I stopped my engine. The driver instructed me to contact ground control on 124.3 and that tower frequency was 118.3. I then contacted ground control who informed me that the ixd tower was open, and that I had entered the air traffic area and landed without clearance. After informing me of my error the controller asked me what my intentions were. I informed the controller that I wanted progressive taxi instructions and clearance for an eastern departure. I was then instructed to back taxi on runway 22 for departure. After back taxi I contacted tower on 118.3 and was given clearance for eastern departure and takeoff. I then departed and returned to 9k4.

Title: PLT OF SMA ON TRAINING XCOUNTRY FLT MISUNDERSTOOD THAT IXD TWR WAS CLOSED, USED WRONG FREQ, LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE IXD TWR ON 118.9. I HAD COPIED THIS FREQ FROM THE ARPT FACILITY DIRECTORY. I AM NOW AWARE THAT 118.9 IS THE FREQ FOR KANSAS CITY APCH/DEP CTL, NOT IXD TWR, WHICH IS 118.3. I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE ON THIS FREQ. UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT IXD TWR WAS NOW CLOSED, I BEGAN MAKING COMMON TA FREQ (CTAF) POS RPTS ON 118.9. I ENTERED A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 22 WHICH WAS ILLUMINATED AND MADE A NORMAL LNDG GIVING POS RPTS ON DOWNWIND, BASE, AND FINAL APCH. AS I TAXIED OFF OF THE RWY THE TAXI LIGHTS WENT OFF. FROM MY POS ON THE TAXIWAY I COULD THEN SEE THE HEADLIGHTS OF AN APCHING VEHICLE ON THE RWY. I WAITED FOR THE VEHICLE WHICH PULLED UP NEXT TO MY ACFT. AS THE DRIVER EXITED HER VEHICLE I STOPPED MY ENG. THE DRIVER INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT GND CTL ON 124.3 AND THAT TWR FREQ WAS 118.3. I THEN CONTACTED GND CTL WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE IXD TWR WAS OPEN, AND THAT I HAD ENTERED THE ATA AND LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC. AFTER INFORMING ME OF MY ERROR THE CTLR ASKED ME WHAT MY INTENTIONS WERE. I INFORMED THE CTLR THAT I WANTED PROGRESSIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND CLRNC FOR AN EASTERN DEP. I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 22 FOR DEP. AFTER BACK TAXI I CONTACTED TWR ON 118.3 AND WAS GIVEN CLRNC FOR EASTERN DEP AND TKOF. I THEN DEPARTED AND RETURNED TO 9K4.
