Narrative:
After landing on runway 29R we turned off on taxiway 8W. My first officer attempted contact with ground control but had no response from his first call. We continued our taxiing onto taxiway a. At this point ground control responded and we also noted that an small aircraft taxiing northwest on taxiway a had stopped about 20-30 ft short of where we had taxied across in front of him. The small aircraft had clearance to taxi northwest on taxiway a and we, turning off the runway after landing and not immediately hearing from ground control taxied across taxiway a in front of him. We did not visually observe the small aircraft until we passed in front of him. We were at normal taxi speed. A situation like this happening at higher speed as with high speed turnoffs from the runway could have been tragic. Solution: aircraft turning off of the runway on high speed turnoffs should have the right of way onto the first parallel taxiway. Supplemental information from acn 195320: also this small aircraft had a very dull blue over grey coloring, making it blend in with the taxiway and other surroundings.

Title: ACR EXITS RWY AT HIGH SPD AND TAXIES IN FRONT OF SMA ON TAXIWAY. ACR NO CONTACT WITH TWR.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 29R WE TURNED OFF ON TAXIWAY 8W. MY FO ATTEMPTED CONTACT WITH GND CTL BUT HAD NO RESPONSE FROM HIS FIRST CALL. WE CONTINUED OUR TAXIING ONTO TAXIWAY A. AT THIS POINT GND CTL RESPONDED AND WE ALSO NOTED THAT AN SMA TAXIING NW ON TAXIWAY A HAD STOPPED ABOUT 20-30 FT SHORT OF WHERE WE HAD TAXIED ACROSS IN FRONT OF HIM. THE SMA HAD CLRNC TO TAXI NW ON TAXIWAY A AND WE, TURNING OFF THE RWY AFTER LNDG AND NOT IMMEDIATELY HEARING FROM GND CTL TAXIED ACROSS TAXIWAY A IN FRONT OF HIM. WE DID NOT VISUALLY OBSERVE THE SMA UNTIL WE PASSED IN FRONT OF HIM. WE WERE AT NORMAL TAXI SPD. A SITUATION LIKE THIS HAPPENING AT HIGHER SPD AS WITH HIGH SPD TURNOFFS FROM THE RWY COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. SOLUTION: ACFT TURNING OFF OF THE RWY ON HIGH SPD TURNOFFS SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY ONTO THE FIRST PARALLEL TAXIWAY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 195320: ALSO THIS SMA HAD A VERY DULL BLUE OVER GREY COLORING, MAKING IT BLEND IN WITH THE TAXIWAY AND OTHER SURROUNDINGS.
