Narrative:

We were on a flight from san jose costa rico to dallas/ft worth international airport when we lost contact with merida center near marte intersection on UB753, 222 NM north of merida, mexico. VHF communications were poor through much of the flight with cenamer and merida center. We noticed many aircraft having difficulty getting position reports through to center. There was a stuck microphone on center frequency in the vicinity of marte and we did not get a frequency change from merida center before we got out of VHF range. We contacted hou center on a chart frequency when in range.
