Narrative:
I was traveling on the first leg of my solo 'long' cross country from perkiomen valley airport to hagerstown airport. The airplane I was flying was an small aircraft. I was traveling in a swesterly direction at 3000 ft. My course was 256 degrees. I had gotten slightly off course several times but had found my chkpoints. The last chkpoint I recognized was directly over gettysburg, PA. I then proceeded to enter over the mountains. The WX briefing I had received prior to leaving was for moderate turbulence in some areas. As I proceeded over the mountains the turbulence increased significantly, and I turned in a more northerly direction for a shorter route. I passed over the mountains and came out over a small town. Directly ahead was runway 27 at hagerstown. At this point I contacted hagerstown tower and told them I was 10 mi to the east at 3000 ft, inbound for a landing. The tower gave me a squawk code and told me to identify. Once I had done this the tower asked if I had the runway in sight and that it was 8 mi away at 11 O'clock. I told them I had the runway in sight and was cleared for runway 27. I then proceeded to land and was given a number to call when I had parked at the ramp. I called as soon as I had cancelled my flight plan and was told that I had flown over camp david. I did not have my maps with me and had no idea that I had passed over the area. The secret service called and took information so they could perform a security check. I informed them that I was a student pilot on the first leg of my solo long cross country and that I had no idea I had passed over the area. The entire time that I was en route after I passed gettysburg I was entirely under the impression that I was well north of camp david and landmarks on the sectional appeared to confirm this.

Title: SPI ON LONG XCOUNTRY FLT ALLEGEDLY FLIES THROUGH P40.
Narrative: I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FIRST LEG OF MY SOLO 'LONG' XCOUNTRY FROM PERKIOMEN VALLEY ARPT TO HAGERSTOWN ARPT. THE AIRPLANE I WAS FLYING WAS AN SMA. I WAS TRAVELING IN A SWESTERLY DIRECTION AT 3000 FT. MY COURSE WAS 256 DEGS. I HAD GOTTEN SLIGHTLY OFF COURSE SEVERAL TIMES BUT HAD FOUND MY CHKPOINTS. THE LAST CHKPOINT I RECOGNIZED WAS DIRECTLY OVER GETTYSBURG, PA. I THEN PROCEEDED TO ENTER OVER THE MOUNTAINS. THE WX BRIEFING I HAD RECEIVED PRIOR TO LEAVING WAS FOR MODERATE TURB IN SOME AREAS. AS I PROCEEDED OVER THE MOUNTAINS THE TURB INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY, AND I TURNED IN A MORE NORTHERLY DIRECTION FOR A SHORTER RTE. I PASSED OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND CAME OUT OVER A SMALL TOWN. DIRECTLY AHEAD WAS RWY 27 AT HAGERSTOWN. AT THIS POINT I CONTACTED HAGERSTOWN TWR AND TOLD THEM I WAS 10 MI TO THE E AT 3000 FT, INBOUND FOR A LNDG. THE TWR GAVE ME A SQUAWK CODE AND TOLD ME TO IDENT. ONCE I HAD DONE THIS THE TWR ASKED IF I HAD THE RWY IN SIGHT AND THAT IT WAS 8 MI AWAY AT 11 O'CLOCK. I TOLD THEM I HAD THE RWY IN SIGHT AND WAS CLRED FOR RWY 27. I THEN PROCEEDED TO LAND AND WAS GIVEN A NUMBER TO CALL WHEN I HAD PARKED AT THE RAMP. I CALLED AS SOON AS I HAD CANCELLED MY FLT PLAN AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD FLOWN OVER CAMP DAVID. I DID NOT HAVE MY MAPS WITH ME AND HAD NO IDEA THAT I HAD PASSED OVER THE AREA. THE SECRET SVC CALLED AND TOOK INFO SO THEY COULD PERFORM A SECURITY CHK. I INFORMED THEM THAT I WAS A STUDENT PLT ON THE FIRST LEG OF MY SOLO LONG XCOUNTRY AND THAT I HAD NO IDEA I HAD PASSED OVER THE AREA. THE ENTIRE TIME THAT I WAS ENRTE AFTER I PASSED GETTYSBURG I WAS ENTIRELY UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT I WAS WELL N OF CAMP DAVID AND LANDMARKS ON THE SECTIONAL APPEARED TO CONFIRM THIS.
