Narrative:
Level at FL330 en route lhe direct to ukata, TCASII advised 'traffic, traffic, traffic' (position mje 210/65) followed immediately by a 'climb, climb, climb' RA. As I began to level at 34000 ft I made visual contact with the intruder passing under our nose about 1000 ft below. After 'clear of conflict' I returned to FL330 and advised tokyo control on 127.4 -- absent the TCASII this would have been a midair or a very close miss.

Title: ACR AT CRUISE HAS TCASII RA. RESPONDS.
Narrative: LEVEL AT FL330 ENRTE LHE DIRECT TO UKATA, TCASII ADVISED 'TFC, TFC, TFC' (POS MJE 210/65) FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A 'CLB, CLB, CLB' RA. AS I BEGAN TO LEVEL AT 34000 FT I MADE VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE INTRUDER PASSING UNDER OUR NOSE ABOUT 1000 FT BELOW. AFTER 'CLR OF CONFLICT' I RETURNED TO FL330 AND ADVISED TOKYO CTL ON 127.4 -- ABSENT THE TCASII THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A MIDAIR OR A VERY CLOSE MISS.
