Narrative:

IFR flight plan filed lansing capital city to toronto island, ontario. Preflted plane at tiedown on west ramp, checked ATIS, contacted ground control during idle/warm up and received IFR clearance and permission to taxi. I then taxied forward into a parked car causing minor damage to propeller and parked car. Cause was failure to thoroughly ascertain location of all parked cars and planes on the ramp prior to taxi and visual obstruction by the nose of the conventional landing gear airplane. An additional cause is the risky practice of letting pilots park cars on the ramp beside their tiedowns when flying. In reviewing my paperwork I discovered that I inadvertently allowed my medical to lapse. I renewed it 12/xx/91.

Title: PLT OF SMA TAXIED INTO AUTO, DAMAGE TO AUTO AND ACFT PROP.

Narrative: IFR FLT PLAN FILED LANSING CAPITAL CITY TO TORONTO ISLAND, ONTARIO. I THEN TAXIED FORWARD INTO A PARKED CAR CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO PROP AND PARKED CAR. CAUSE WAS FAILURE TO THOROUGHLY ASCERTAIN LOCATION OF ALL PARKED CARS AND PLANES ON THE RAMP PRIOR TO TAXI AND VISUAL OBSTRUCTION BY THE NOSE OF THE CONVENTIONAL LNDG GEAR AIRPLANE. AN ADDITIONAL CAUSE IS THE RISKY PRACTICE OF LETTING PLTS PARK CARS ON THE RAMP BESIDE THEIR TIEDOWNS WHEN FLYING.
