Narrative:
On landing in lax (25L) with strong, gusting xwinds, aircraft's right leading edge slat was damaged. Discovered after taxi in to gate by maintenance. First officer made landing (had low time experience in aircraft). First officer felt comfortable on approach, but captain's experience on aircraft was more qualifying for approach in gusty conditions. Crew had started day 8 hours earlier. Captain was higher min captain for the aircraft. Lessons learned. In retrospect captain's experience on aircraft should have led to flying the approach vice first officer. Aircraft was in full landing confign and crew had stabilized approach to touchdown.

Title: ACR IN GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS HAS LEADING EDGE SLAT DAMAGE ON LNDG.
Narrative: ON LNDG IN LAX (25L) WITH STRONG, GUSTING XWINDS, ACFT'S R LEADING EDGE SLAT WAS DAMAGED. DISCOVERED AFTER TAXI IN TO GATE BY MAINT. FO MADE LNDG (HAD LOW TIME EXPERIENCE IN ACFT). FO FELT COMFORTABLE ON APCH, BUT CAPT'S EXPERIENCE ON ACFT WAS MORE QUALIFYING FOR APCH IN GUSTY CONDITIONS. CREW HAD STARTED DAY 8 HRS EARLIER. CAPT WAS HIGHER MIN CAPT FOR THE ACFT. LESSONS LEARNED. IN RETROSPECT CAPT'S EXPERIENCE ON ACFT SHOULD HAVE LED TO FLYING THE APCH VICE FO. ACFT WAS IN FULL LNDG CONFIGN AND CREW HAD STABILIZED APCH TO TOUCHDOWN.
