Narrative:
Upon leaving platform in a helicopter a slight bump was felt on takeoff. As the flight proceeded the left front skid cracked and bent downward while in forward flight. As the helicopter proceeded to shore base the passenger were advised of a precautionary landing. Upon arrival the passenger exited the aircraft. The aircraft hovered until secured for landing and shutdown. The skid guard of the aircraft contacted a raised tiedown hook on the platform causing the left front crack in the strut. Most offshore platform tiedown hooks are recessed.
