Narrative:
Approach to landing was normal, crosswind from northwest, moderate turbulence, on GS (using VASI) set up for crosswind landing (left aileron/right rudder). Left main wheel touched first, bounced, both main wheels touched. Aileron rolled to the l-r rudder pressure released. Airplane goes airborne, veering to the right (lifted 12 inches maximum) then suddenly lurches to the left. Nose wheel hits the ground, followed by propeller, helps to stabilize aircraft. Plane is on the ground, full stop, engine running, propeller turning. Taxied to the ramp, shut down engine to inspect possible damage. Tips of propellers curled about 2 inches. Nose wheel may be flat otherwise no apparent damage to airplane.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT LOST CTL OF GA SMA LNDG IN STRONG GUSTY XWIND.
Narrative: APCH TO LNDG WAS NORMAL, XWIND FROM NW, MODERATE TURB, ON GS (USING VASI) SET UP FOR XWIND LNDG (L AILERON/R RUDDER). L MAIN WHEEL TOUCHED FIRST, BOUNCED, BOTH MAIN WHEELS TOUCHED. AILERON ROLLED TO THE L-R RUDDER PRESSURE RELEASED. AIRPLANE GOES AIRBORNE, VEERING TO THE R (LIFTED 12 INCHES MAX) THEN SUDDENLY LURCHES TO THE L. NOSE WHEEL HITS THE GND, FOLLOWED BY PROP, HELPS TO STABILIZE ACFT. PLANE IS ON THE GND, FULL STOP, ENG RUNNING, PROP TURNING. TAXIED TO THE RAMP, SHUT DOWN ENG TO INSPECT POSSIBLE DAMAGE. TIPS OF PROPS CURLED ABOUT 2 INCHES. NOSE WHEEL MAY BE FLAT OTHERWISE NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO AIRPLANE.
